Creative somatic practice for
vitality, ease & self-trust
When you find yourself circling around a task you’ve been meaning to do without taking any action, orrrr spinning in a sea of “I should…”, orrr spiraling into way-too-familiar swirls of self doubt, and/orrrr thinking about a creative project but not lifting a finger…
It’s time to SHAKE IT UP
Feeling stuck is a part of being a human. Creatives and people committed to living purposeful lives are especially attuned to what this feels like. It’s uncomfortable and frustrating, exhausting and anxiety-inducing. It’s the ebb to our flow. And while it isn’t bad or wrong to feel stuck, it is not a state we are meant to stay in forever.
This workshop invite us into movement to cultivate a sense of flow, ease, and vitality. In this potent 90 minute practice, we will literally Shake It Up— by moving through a set of practices designed to regulate our nervous system and cultivate presence and possibility with whatever might be keeping us stuck. The practices we will share together include a Group Shake, automatic writing, and vagal toning (think humming).
The goal is to meet ourselves where we are at and move some energy around, so we can ground into our knowing and move forward with clarity. Drawing from somatics, Polyvagal theory and creative process, this workshop will introduce a set of practices that you can weave into your daily life.

about your guide
emily liptow • she/they • is movement artist, creative producer, facilitator, and community organizer from the watershed of Lake Erie. Working with movement, voice, and textiles, they create experiences – in the form of performances, rituals, workshops, and gatherings – that invite others into sacred relationship and presence with what is here right now. emily is a committed student of change, cycles, seasons, and grief. Alongside fellow shapeshifters, she explores how collaborative movement and performance practices can nurture cultures of care and intimacy during turbulent and violent times.
This is the workshop she’s needed at various times in her life— whether at times feeling lonely and stuck and longing for change, or overwhelmed with grad school deadlines, drowning in so much information and not knowing what to do with it.
